this week i finished a new set of small pieces. in a rather unenthusiastic way, maybe. even my art feels plodding lately. i’m not sure what has possessed me, the use of PINK. i also noticed i wore the two different PINK t-shirts i own to work this week. usually i wear black. brown. olive green. i am *not* feeling PINK that is for sure. so i don’t quite understand. maybe i just like the way it looks with a yellowish green … i do seem to feel rather yellowish green.

it is working weekend again, and i don’t really mind. it has been busier in the office, too, this week. i feel rather worked-out. i know i don’t play enough. actually though, i don’t know *what* to play at these days. the same things just don’t seem fun. i *am* looking forward to next weekend though!! betsyWorld! i will go to boston to see her thesis play. hmmm. i wonder if it is OK to link the facebook page for it? ok. shhhhhh. (ok sorry. i think you have to be on FB to go there) her dad is also coming that weekend *and* my sister Trish and Kurtis and Kathy. what a party! a good deal of the time will be spent with betsy running around trying to catch as many plays as possible. i always love that. it is exciting. and kind of thrilling to see how the kids have progressed these years. i’m a little sad that it will be the last time i go. i love boston.

then sometime next month i want to go to Texas to see my mama (and sisters … and margaret!). then sometime in early July i will take margaret back to california. to live. the most fun times are when i go away. i look forward to them desperately.

i need to make more images.

have you ever seen yourself cough in the mirror? i did this morning.
i will never cough in public again without covering my whole face.

well. onward. friday … whew.

i have not been very frisky or productive at the artTable the past couple of weeks, it seems. a new book is coming along slowly. i’ve finished abut 3 dozen handmade bizcards. um … did i work in my journal? no. finally, though, i have been making some new small pieces in the last two days. of course they are recycled photographs (will i *ever* run out of them?? all the film i wasted … shudder!). and i have been transferring bird engravings! i love them! the birds have the sweetest faces. they must be mostly european birds, because i have never seen any of these creatures. anyway, they are pleasant work.

i have been avoiding the big pale paintings.

it seems spring is finally appearing. there is even blue sky today. i have seen daffodils, hyacinth and almost-forsythia. it’s all so late. i guess there will be a HUGE blowout in a couple of weeks and cameras should be prepared.

hopefully i will be cheered by the season, because i have been glum as hell lately. almost depressed, i think. and still feeling sickish. blech. and i miss the girls like crazy lately. it is worse staying in the town they are gone from and are not to return. it is not like i ever had my own separate life here, really. just a job and a lease. i’m trying hard to stay put though, because i know that bit of retirement dough is a wise thing to keep in mind. i am saving $$ militantly, trying to be ready for escape when the time comes.

i wonder where i will go?

it seems to have been a rather long and sleepy week. long days in the fluorescent prison. long evenings at the artTable. clomping up and down the hill (but at least not in ICE now! hooray!). eating rather dull foods (sorry, my poet, but …). reading. sleeping like a drugged bear. except for the hours of wakefulness around 4am. DEFINITELY READY FOR AN ADVENTURE.

despite all, i have been having a grand time tearing up that ranchwear catalog.

the BIG StudioSpringCleaningSale on my etsy : through March

there is much to celebrate sellingArt-wise. 1)yesterday my 100th sale on etsy. 2)arting nonstop through the winter despite frigid studio and somewhat dull state of mind 3)MADE IT THROUGH WINTER! 4)the studio is gobFull of treasure. however, that accumulation can result in somewhat of a creative block and i need to clean it out. i WANT to clean it out.

obviously i don’t make art to make big bucks, although it is nice to sell a bit and sure i can use the $$. i make it because i *have* to - and that can’t really be explained, but i expect many know what i mean. and also because i want it to go out in the world, a bit of me, maybe a little inspiration or good thought. i know many simple pieces of art have given me secret joy throughout my life. maybe some of mine might do that, too? etsy has been GREAT for the purpose of sending out small pieces of art into the world.

so about the sale : throughout March, go there, pick any piece, click to purchase, and in your note tell me *another* piece that you would like, of equal or lesser cost, and i will unlist it and send with your original purchase. yes! 2 - for - 1! you may share or you may be greedy. either way i am happy and you will be, too! there will be old and new things added all month, so please check back often! and THANK YOU forever!
