…what i did with those toycam beach cottage images i loved so much…
photo object : 4″ x 6″ : toycam photos stitched to recycled photographs : found text poetry

just when i snap off my big mouth about “no more small stuff” and “no more clipped text” i start having lots of fun with it and can’t stop. buh. i *do* want to make big work this year and i WILL. but. um. maybe not just yet? i keep telling myself i must stop using found text, because it is now as trite as pointy hats on fairies (sorry), but then the perfect pages come along and the words just fall together and it is just so much FUN. even my poet says i “do it well”. so maybe i should discontinue any pronouncements about what i will and won’t do and just do what feels right? or should i kick my ass and take some risks with uncomfortable stuff? erf. anyway, they are on etsy, of course. and they are FUN.

the bison series (&so much more!) now available on etsy.

i will probably be making more images like this. even though i sometimes snarl about my “small work”, i just love doing it. right now it works in my space and with my time. somehow using the recycled photographs as background for the new images felt very good. pleasant work last night!

now it is morning and i have had too much coffee and my ears are humming loudly from the leftover sinus thing. my feet are freezing and it is gray and dreary out. after a few errands i plan to spend the rest of the weekend at the artTable. don’t even try to stop me!

still putting new things in my little ETSY shop every day. they aren’t disappearing fast enough! i am not deflated though, i proceed fearlessly and squeal with delight when i get a SOLD email. however, i think i am mostly finished with making these small works. they are pleasant and addictive but they stack up too easily and it is difficult to sell them. they really need to be seen alive. and touched. and i realize they would not do well in a public space because they would be too easy to walk off with, frankly. i think in a booth show, with me manning the space and controlling the display, they could do well perhaps. but … um … when exactly might *that* happen?

it feels odd to have no artTable now, but i like the time off. there is the magazine to work on (yes, t-giving weekend! *and* with the girls here!) and i do have a little box of stuff in case there is a creative emergency. but wallowing about reading books seems tolerable for a week. i am contemplating what i want to do next. i can only have a few supplies out at a time, because there is just not space for everything and i can’t work in extreme clutter. is cloth going to come out? i am so intimidated! somehow i want to make cloth things like the little piece above. i think i can do it … new pieces are lurking in my head

one more day of the office and then the girls will come. i am so glad. it will be crowded and noisy in our little house, but fun, i think. i hope my quiet poet doesn’t go berserk with all of our carrying on. the girls don’t come until 5pm on t-giving day. we don’t do turkey type things, so shall find a place for dinner in kansas city. i hope something is open! and then i really want to see the Bloch Building lit all up at night.

i feel all rambly and blabberish. there was vegetable soup with miso and cabbage for dinner. yum. and clementines. they are supposed to be for the girls, but they are too good to wait. it has turned cold again. i’m trying to put off going back to work and paying some bills. that’s what.

more on ETSY. every day!

i have really been having fun feeling motivated to finish and list these new pieces. they are very recycled. if anyone does archeology on one, it would be silly. so they are dense in a secret way, even though on the outside they are mostly just pretty little pieces. i wish i could arrange and hang them all over a shredded plaster wall, in an altaristic fashion. instead of the way i am required on etsy. hmmmmm… i wonder if i could make a web page like that? they would be so tiny though…hmmm…thumbnails that click? well, we’ll see. i don’t want to sit at this computer all day. again it is beautiful out and wandering with a camera or two will probably be desired. and there is MORE art to make and scan. and even some mailing to be done! hooray! but my poet will still have to pay for *all* the groceries this week. /-:

already i have had too much coffee, i can tell. what happened? i used to be able to sit all morning with my big white cup, refilling until the pot was empty? now i am about to jump out of my skin. wheeee!

my etsy shop is now re-opened for business

i forgot what a JOB it is to scan and post things on etsy. but, man, i hope it will be worth it. there is going to be some good stuff on there. NEW things! (ok, some old, but newly listed) starting tonight. at the usual embarrassing giveaway prices. i *have* to … the stacks … everywhere! i didn’t realize my hands have been *that* busy in the past few months…

image transfer/mezclado on altered photo. beeswax finish. 1 of 7

it was a good long weekend at home. we took some long walks. watched a movie from the library. ate pretty well (pesto from my garden!). i made a few pictures and read a book and missed the girls (the usual things). but most time was spent at the artTable feeling productive and happy. apparently at the same time wished i would “do something with those dragonflies”, i was transferring them to watercolor paper! great minds! the prints came out really well and i was quite happy with them. the digital prints are fine, too, but i believe i got too carried away with the object-making aspect of mounting them and they seem a bit busy.

i am *very* happy with the tiny mezclado’s though! image transfers of the garages and pointy houses with waxed chinese paper fringe! oooooooooo! i LOVE waxing paper. it has the coolest smooth feel. i have put these new things on etsy.
