another structure from the old soldier’s home - deserving its own gallery - HERE

i *think* i’m finished with the images from this place now! ha ha. but i can’t wait to go back. lately all i want to do is go to new places and make pictures - then dreamworld them. but instead i am going to have to stay home for a long long time because i am POOR. i thought i was supposed to have more money after moving to a small apartment? what is going on? i’m not spending more. i haven’t even clicked Buy It Now on the new camera i want. NOT FAIR.

anyway. happy enough…

Your photographs/paintings call to me in their beauty. How do you do them? They are so magical to me. Roxanne

Have you thought about making cards (say, note cards) of your photos–like this one–for Etsy?

I know I would buy them, and I’ll bet others would, too. They’re unique, evocative, interesting… and everyone sends cards. (Don’t they?)

Also…moving is expensive. I always wonder where my money went after I move.

roxanne, hi! thanks so much for your comment. i wrote sort of a how-to response in the previous post, so forgive me if i just copy it here? “photoshop is my best friend and my favorite artTool. i like to attempt to make the images appear as i see them in my head or to reflect my mood at the time of making them. so i use a variety of brushes, actions, texture layers and color transformations (some i make and some are appropriated) until i get what feels and looks right - as you can see, i will use the same effect for a certain group - because i like some uniformity within the set. sometimes i can be too rigid and it gets boring.” that should give you a hint to how it happens! (-:

jennifer, (i miss you) - i have thought of setting up the Etsy shop again, with more images instead of mixed media work. it seems like every time i have made cards, i end up with a ton of them in a box and i hardly ever send cards! although i loved making them and the idea seems good … yours are really gorgeous. are they selling on Etsy? i think i recovered my moving expenses almost immediately and it has been long enough that i thought i would see a nicer bank balance - but damn! it’s slow….

I love this photo! Very atmospheric. I will have to hunt for your instructions on how to do this. I am in love with Photshop but need to keep at it. Yep, get your etsy shop going again. I started mine but not with artsyquiltsy things. I have left that for the time being.

CEEVEE!!!!! of course i remember you!!! that was so much fun. i will NEVER forget! i am so glad to see you surface again. i guess i should get the shop going again… thank you for your encouragement. you are right, the artquilt things are way too hard to sell on there, at least at a fair price (for artist). so are you not doing *any* cloth work now??? sad. i know, because i am not either. with full time office work, i just can’t find the energy. are you still working at your university too? email anytime! i am glad to hear from you!

oh bobbi… your photograph is so beautiful. you capture things with such a simplicity, but that’s the art itself. i believe it was diana arbus that once said, the more a photo shows, the less of the secret you know….

    beautiful. hauntingly beautiful.

    i hope all is well…

    ange.

    Thanks Bobbi!

Etsy does ok–in waves and spurts. I’ve been reading the “quit your day job” profiles, and pretty much all of those people joined teams, entered the chat forums, and so on to get their name around, meet people, and so on. I guess I’ll try to do that. It’s better than waiting to be discovered. (ha ha)

I just ordered some cards from Hey Sailor Greetings on Etsy (hilarious Barbie and Ken cards), and the guy said he’d print them the next day and send them on. Doing that would keep you from having to order a lot.

I can’t believe gas has gotten so low–but groceries are taking up the slack. One potato (for yummy split pea soup) cost me 73 cents yesterday!

    Come back to Etsy!

I love to look at your photos and art. I don’t have a blog but am a member of a street team blog where I am one of the writers. I really should add something to it, but check it out at
